The mom, The Artist, the whole person.

Sometimes I like to peruse the internet for other marriage or kid blogs to check out and glean ideas and inspiration from.  A few that I personally enjoy and get a lot out of are :

AND

http://tolovehonorandvacuum.com/ I am reading one of her books right now and I have to say, she is really amazing!  I am reading The good girl's guide to great sex.   Before you take your mind to that gutter, let me mention that she is actually a Christian author (which is crazy because I thought I could nail her for being cheesy and naive but shes actually quite legit.)  This is a good, realistic book for married women from lots of different sexual experiences and backgrounds and I highly recommend it.

So aside from reading inspiring blogs, I wanted to blog about this crazy but completely sane (for me...) idea I have that I think I want to pursue.  Don't ask me how, I haven't gotten that far yet, but I think that it might be something that has been a long time coming.  It's something that calls to me as a sense of purpose and progress as the person that I am, have been and am becoming.  Okay, here goes...I want to start an art collective...for moms.

I'd eventually like to find a studio space where moms can come, work, create and do, and then we would do exhibitions and open gallery walk through for the community to see art through the eyes of mothers.

To people who don't actually have kids, they may not get the point of this, but I feel like there are tons of random "mommy" outlets for people, but not many tat treat mothers like individual people and creative artists.  I struggle with that...that is, finding the balance between mom identity and individual that I am aside from "mom".  I think this idea would allow moms to be both mothers and artists and individuals and embrace it as a whole identity rather than having to compartmentalize themselves all the time.

Just a thought.  I know now that being a mom is one of the most eye opening challenges in the world.  It has allowed me to see the world differently through my own situation and through my son's eyes and I think adequately expressed, it could make an amazing artistic statement.............

Stay tuned, we'll see what happens :)
